Family of Likhona Fose satisfied with case so far, hopeful for closure! The family of murdered 14-year-old Likhona Fose said it’s satisfied with how proceedings are unfolding in the matter, adding that they were hopeful to find much-needed closure.
The family spoke to media outside the Roodepoort Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning, following the brief appearance of the man accused of killing the teen.
Fose’s body was found mutilated in an open veld in Durban Deep, more than two weeks ago, and 39-year-old Mduduzi Mnisi has been charged with her premeditated murder.

On Wednesday, Mnisi’s girlfriend, Pinky, was meant to give a witness account on his defence; however, she never took the stand.
Fose’ grandfather, Thozamile Mlenze, said while the witness did not show up in time for court, they know they cannot rush the flow of justice.
“What we want is for the law to take its course, we as a family didn’t point any fingers at people and come out with a suspect. We heard what Mduduzi said in court on Tuesday and expected his witness to reveal new information, but we won’t force the law, all we want is a clean case and for the perpetrator to be locked up.”
GAUTENG EDUCATION DEPT REACTS
The Gauteng Department of Education has called on the community of Durban Deep to band together and help to facilitate justice in the gruesome murder case.
The department has been providing psychological support to Fose’s family and learners of Ikusasalethu Secondary School, in Braamfischerville, where she was enrolled
Department spokesperson Steve Mabona says members of the community who may have information can help by going to the police.
“Communities need to work together; they need to make sure that our children are safe at all times. If things are happening in the community, you expect that members of the community must protect each other, if there’s people that might have witnessed anything they need to report to the law enforcement agencies as it were. It will make life easy, unlike you come to court people are not sure about what transpired.”
