Search and recovery efforts continue for Eastern Cape flood victims

Search and recovery efforts continue for Eastern Cape flood victims! The Eastern Cape government is continuing the search for missing victims, including two children, as the province is still reeling from being battered by heavy floods.

To date, 102 bodies have been recovered across various districts, and 56 victims have been buried since the tragic ordeal.

Spokesperson Khuselwa Rantjie said that 96 bodies have been identified and handed over to families – while six remain unidentified.

She adds that DNA testing may be required to help positively identify some of the deceased, as some bodies were found already decomposed.
