City Power said only three per cent of residents in Tshepisong are paying for electricity.
Officials from the utility have been cutting illegal power connections on Thursday, but have been met with protests.

City Power’s Isaac Mangena says the utility is bleeding money maintaining infrastructure in Tshepisong.
“Since January, we have replaced about 20 transformers in Tshepisong that were vandalised and each worth about 400 thousand rand, and that is the money we have spent with the hope that the community will start buying electricity.”
