In July, Madlanga held a briefing in Sandton, revealing his team who would assist with the commission.

More than a month following the announcement of the establishment of a judicial commission of inquiry to probe serious allegations raised by Mkhwanazi, a date for its commencement has been set.

In a statement released on Wednesday morning, the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Criminality, Political Interference and Corruption in the Criminal Justice System noted that it would begin its hearings on 1 September.
