The urgent legal battle between top cops Shadrack Sibiya and Fannie Masemola has been delayed by an application for the matter to be heard before a full bench of judges.
Sibiya, who is the deputy commissioner for crime prevention, approached the Pretoria High Court with an application for his reinstatement after his suspension in July.
The suspension was prompted by explosive allegations made by Kwazulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

Sibiya’s legal showdown with his boss, Fannie Masemola, was meant to play out in the Pretoria High Court on Tuesday, but it has now stalled.
This is because of Sibiya’s application for the matter to be heard before a full bench of three judges and not just one.
Speaking outside court, Sibiya said he has confidence in the justice system and the police commission of inquiry.
“I am quite sure that the commission is doing all in its power to sit and I am happy that the president has put a system like this in place so that everyone can go clear themselves out. Remember, I am not the only one who had allegations made. I am also waiting to clear my name.”
The matter has been removed from the urgent court roll, and all parties now await a new date for it to be heard.
