Vusimuzi Matlala attempted murder case: NPA seeks to consolidate matters in the alleged underworld figure! The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is looking to consolidate several matters in the case against alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.
He’s accused of ordering a 2023 hit on his ex-girlfriend, influencer Tebogo Thobejane.
Matlala, alongside his wife and three others, face charges including attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and money laundering.

The State in the matter said it will apply to have the case transferred to the Johannesburg High Court.
Prosecutors told the court they are moving to centralise seven separate dockets linked to the group that is currently scattered across different magistrates’ courts in the province.
N legal terms, centralisation means consolidating all related matters under one court — to avoid duplication, streamline disclosure, and allow the trial to be heard by a higher forum.
NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonodwane said this move is important for the State’s case.
“When you have cases emanating from other areas, you must apply for centralisation, so we want to combine them into one.”
Currently, only Matlala’s wife and the daughter of one of the co-accused are out on bail, while the rest remain behind bars.
Meanwhile, the bail application for Matlala is expected to be heard next Tuesday, while the other four accused are expected to return in October.
