Mopani police arrest 3 suspects after armed robbery! Three men, aged between 30 and 38-years-old, have been arrested following a business robbery at a shop in Turkey, Ga-Sekororo, in the Maake policing precinct.

The incident took place on Sunday (August 24), while the arrests were made the following day.

Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, says that at midday on Sunday, the Proactive Vispol Commander of Maake received information about an armed robbery in progress.

“A multidisciplinary team comprising the Mopani Tracking Team, Mopani Highway Patrol, and Maake Tracking Team was quickly assembled to respond. Upon arrival, officers learned that about six armed suspects had stormed the shop, escaping with an undisclosed amount of money and groceries before police arrived.”

On Monday (August 25), information led police to the suspects’ hiding place in Metz village.

When officers approached the property, the men opened fire while attempting to flee. Police returned fire, injuring one suspect.

Two men were arrested on the scene, and police recovered two unlicensed firearms with serial numbers filed off, along with live ammunition.

A third suspect was found inside the house in possession of suspected stolen groceries.

The trio are expected to appear before the Maake Magistrate’s Court on charges of attempted murder, possession of suspected stolen property, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, praised the teamwork between law enforcement and the community in bringing the suspects to justice.
