Eskom has implemented load-reduction in several provinces, including Limpopo, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, North West, Free State and Mpumalanga, after an explosion at the Medupi Power Station.
The utility says it is battling to keep up with increased equipment failure caused by overloading, costing millions to repair.
On Monday, the Unit 4 generator at Medupi Power Station exploded.
