KZN Transport Dept deploys RTI teams on strategic routes across the province! The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport has deployed Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) teams on strategic routes across the province as part of efforts to improve road safety this winter.
This followed a horrific taxi crash on the N3 near Pietermaritzburg on Friday evening, which claimed five lives and left dozens injured.

The department said heightened visibility of traffic officers during the cold season could help curb the number of road accidents.
Spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya said officials are also providing support to the bereaved families.
“We will continue to interact with the taxi association from Ixopo, just to ensure that we keep in touch with the relatives of the victims. We’ll also be engaging with the SAPS in Ixopo. We are hopeful that the families will find comfort, because we’ve asked our provincial chaplain as well as our district chaplain to pray for the families of the deceased.”
