Severe weather damage affects almost 70 KZN schools! Sixty-eight schools have been damaged by severe weather in parts of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) as inclement weather persists in the province.
In the last few days, residents have been battling heavy rains, strong winds, and thunderstorms, while some areas recorded snowfall.

Disaster management teams are currently responding to the affected areas to avoid loss of life.
KZN Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) spokesperson, Senzelwe Mzila, says infrastructure damage has hit schools the hardest.
“In terms of the preliminary assessment that has been done by the Department of COGTA, 68 schools across nine districts sustained damage, with the largest number of schools being in the Ugu District, where 38 schools were affected.”
No fatalities have been recorded as a result of the severe weather in KZN.
