The power utility is urging the public to avoid illegal connections and energy theft, warning these practices overload transformers, damage equipment, and can even cause explosions.

To help keep the supply stable this winter, Eskom is encouraging customers to buy electricity only from accredited vendors and to regularise their usage where necessary.
Households that qualify are also urged to register for free basic electricity with their local municipalities.
Spokesperson Daphne Mokwena said they remain focused on strengthening the grid and improving performance.
“Eskom remains committed to strengthening grid reliability through the ongoing implementation of the generation recovery plan, aimed at improving performance and ensuring long-term energy security.”
