Minister of Water and Sanitation Pemmy Majodina is set to hand over the last remaining houses to families relocated six years ago to make way for the Hazelmere Dam wall upgrade.
Several families were moved to allow the dam wall to be raised, boosting storage capacity and improving water supply to eThekwini, iLembe and KwaDukuza municipalities.
The Minister has already handed over homes to other affected families, with Sunday marking the final phase.

Earlier in 2025, the minister handed over seven houses built by the department to families in Oakford and Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal.
Their relocation made it possible to raise the Hazelmere Dam wall by seven metres, from 86 to 93 metres.
On Sunday, three more families will finally receive the keys to their new homes, bringing the total to seventeen houses handed over.
The department built the houses in line with government policy on land expropriation for development.
The minister is also expected to engage with local residents during a community meeting.
