Families and colleagues of missing journalist Aserie Ndlovu and his partner, Zodwa Mdhluli, have been told to brace themselves for any outcome as the search for the couple continues.

This comes after the arrest of five suspects linked to the couple’s disappearance over the weekend.

The pair went missing under mysterious circumstances earlier in 2025.

The suspects including Mdhluli’s driver, Samuel Mogongwe, all appeared at the KwaMhlanga Magistrates Court in Mpumalanga this week.

Mogongwe and another co-accused, Lucky Sikhosana, each face two counts of kidnapping as police continue investigating the matter.

National Press Club spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga has weighed in on the ordeal, saying the wait is becoming too long for the families.

“It’s a relief for the families. We are talking to them, we have been waiting here with them, and we are monitoring how they are feeling and how they are taking this whole situation.

“It’s not easy because the police could come back to us anytime and say anything, as General Sibiya indicated earlier that we need to prepare for anything.”
